The questioner : The female listener also says in this question: A person saw in a dream that another man he did not know advised him to propose to the daughter of so-and-so, whom he also did not know, and mentioned to him her name, her occupation, and described her appearance. Is this vision true, or is it just a jumble of dreams? Please inform us?

The Shaykh : It must be examined. If reality matches this vision, then it is a true vision. If reality contradicts it or contradicts this vision, then it is a jumble of dreams. Perhaps an angel strikes a person in his sleep, for example, regarding his marriage to the woman of so-and-so, and mentions to him of her characteristics what makes him propose to her. Even so, he should not rely on what he saw in the dream, but rather search for her thoroughly while awake. If he finds that she is of good character and religion, let him propose, based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
A woman is married for four things, i.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a losers. تنكح المرأة لأربع لمالها وحسبها وجمالها ودينها فاظفر بذات الدين تربت يداك
Sahih al-Bukhari 5090
.
And on this occasion, I would like to direct a word of advice to the guardians of women who treat women as commodities, not marrying them off except to the one who gives them the most, and who do not care about the suitor's character or his religion, but only look at what they take from his hand. If the suitor gives them more than another suitor, they marry him off to the one who gives more, even if the second is more upright in his religion and character. There is no doubt that this is a betrayal, and it is not permissible for a person to prevent his daughter, his sister, or one over whom he has guardianship from marrying a man who is a match in religion and character for the sake of money.
It is also not permissible for him to marry his daughter, his sister, or one over whom he has guardianship to a man who is not a match in religion and character for the sake of money, for he will be accountable for that on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
(27) O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence]. (28) And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a great reward.
[Al-Anfal 8:27-28]
.
If it happens that a woman is proposed to by a man who is a match in religion and character, and she agrees, but the father or brother refuses, then they have no right to do so, and the guardianship passes to those after them, because they did not fulfill the duty of the trust that Allah placed upon them. If it happens that a daughter is proposed to by her father and he refuses to marry her off, and the suitor is a match, then she may turn from her father to her brother, if he is qualified for guardianship, or to her uncle, or to one of her male agnatic relatives. If they do not fulfill the duty of marrying her off, then she may take the matter to the court so that the court may take charge of it. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
