Continuation of the discussion: The permissibility of gesturing during prayer and that this does not invalidate the prayer.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The point in the hadith of Abu Bakrah is that he gestured to them, saying, "Just as you are, so is the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)." In the hadith of Jabir, when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them standing, he gestured to them to sit down after he had prayed. He said to them:
You were about to do what the Persians do with their great ones, standing over their kings. كدتم آنفا أن تفعلوا فعل فارس بعظمائها يقومون على رؤوس ملوكهم
Look at how much the Shari'ah cares about turning Muslims away from imitating the disbelievers, to the extent that in prayer he did not want them to have this image, this phenomenon that reminds one of polytheism, shirk (associating partners with Allah), and misguidance. The king sits while the entourage and ministers stand, even though there is a very great difference between this Persian polytheistic phenomenon and this Prophetic, Muhammadan phenomenon. That is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions pray to Allah, Lord of the worlds, all of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat out of necessity; he did not sit out of arrogance or exaltation. And his Companions did not stand behind him to exalt him, as the people of Persia do with their great ones. They stood for Allah, Lord of the worlds. All this intentional difference in intention, if that is the correct expression, is what made the Wise Lawgiver approve this formal polytheistic phenomenon. So he said to them (peace and blessings be upon him) on this occasion:
You were about to do what the Persians do with their great ones. كدتم آنفا أن تفعلوا فعل فارس بعظمائها
Therefore,
The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به فإذا كبر فكبروا
Sunan an-Nasa'i 921Sahih (Darussalam)
to the end of the hadith. This is the occasion now.
