The Impact of the Arab Islamic Da'wah on Non-Arab Peoples, with Albania as an Example, and the Influence of the Arabic Language on Its Language

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, our language, Albanian, after we learned the Arabic language by the grace of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), we notice in many words that their origin is Arabic, because the Arabs entered among them and spread their religion among them, as well as their language, customs, and traditions. Even when I was in elementary school, the history teacher told us a story, or rather, he told us, students, a story. We distinguish between "he told us" and "he told me" in the science of hadith. The point is, he told us in one of the lessons a story for which I have not yet found a source in history books, within the scope of my knowledge. He said the word "Arna'ut." We have two expressions: "Arna'ut" and "Alban." "Alban" is specific to the Arna'ut; some pronounce it with a "d" and some with a "t": Arna'ut or Arna'ud. The word "Arna'ut" is general, like the word "Arabs," while the word "Alban" is specific, like "Egyptian" or "Hijazi," and so on. That is, every Albanian is an Arna'ut, but not every Arna'ut is Albanian. This history teacher told us: the origin of the word "Arna'ud." He said that the Arabs, in their ancient historical campaigns, reached the lands of the Romans and fought the Romans in the path of spreading the da'wah. The Muslims overcame the Romans and returned to their lands. On the way, they stopped and reproached one another: how can we return to our lands defeated? It is a disgrace for us to return. So they turned back on the Romans, and Allah granted them victory, and they occupied their lands. From there, they spread until they reached the Albanians and Yugoslavia, which now contains the Serbs, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. This word they said, reproaching one another, "It is a disgrace for us to return," was shortened over time and became what? Arna'ud. The "d" was changed to a "t," and it became what? Arna'ut. And this is possible; this kind of shortening and abbreviation can happen in speech. The point of this is that lands, in commercial language, they say the land differs by the span, meaning, for example, agricultural land, industrial land, building land suitable for construction but not for agriculture. So the land differs by the span. This is a material example. Likewise, in the spiritual aspect, exactly. And it is good that I conclude this speech with a correct Prophetic hadith, which is the best with which we can conclude our speech, especially since I have started to notice that sleep or drowsiness has begun to tease some of the eyelids, so I say.

The questioner : Shaykh, I have a question...

The Shaykh : So I say, I conclude my speech with a hadith from the Master of Mankind (peace and blessings be upon him). As stated in "al-Sahihayn":
There was among those before you a man who killed ninety-nine souls, then he wanted to repent, so he asked about the most knowledgeable person on earth, and he was directed to a monk—meaning a worshipper who was not a scholar. He came to him and said to him: I have killed ninety-nine souls without right; do I have any chance of repentance? I have killed ninety-nine souls and you want to repent? There is no repentance for you. So the man completed the number of a hundred. But the man was sincere and repentant, wanting to repent, so he kept asking about the most knowledgeable person on earth until he was directed to a scholar. He came to him and said: I have killed a hundred souls without right; do I have any chance of repentance? He said: Who can stand between you and repentance? But—here is the point—however, you are in a bad land, so leave it for such-and-such a village whose people are righteous.
A village and another, my brother, a village is not a region or a province, not a state and a state, a village and another
You are in a land whose people are corrupt, so look and leave for the land whose people are righteous... So he left. أنت في أرض فسد أهلها ، فانظر فاخرج إلى الأرض الصالح أهلها ... فخرج
And this is evidence that he was sincere in his seeking of repentance. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And while he was on his way to the village whose people are righteous, death came to him, and the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed over him, each claiming that it was his right to take charge of extracting his soul or removing it. So Allah sent to them an angel, and he said to the disputants: Look at the distance between the man and each of the two villages, and to whichever one he was closer, assign him to it. So they measured, and found him closer to the village whose people are righteous, so the angels of mercy took charge of taking his soul.
; so lands differ by the span. Therefore, when you hear an advisor mentioning and advising migration, and not departure, not departure but migration, to gain the reward of the migrants first, and then to preserve himself and his offspring second, and this is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And finally, O Abu Saleh, perhaps you will extend the duration of the journey so that we may benefit from you again and from your other questions.

The questioner : ... in the coming few months, perhaps we can meet you in the seventh month.

The Shaykh : The seventh month, this is a Western term, of course. And what do you think of someone who does not understand Western terms?

The questioner : I mean, after two months.

The Shaykh : Which Arabic month? Where is the purification, O Shaykh? May Allah guide us and you all. Say "Ameen" all of you, perhaps among us is a man whose supplication Allah will accept.
