The Third: Trade Goods and Their Meaning

The Shaykh : The third category is trade goods. Trade goods are anything a person prepares for trade and profit, regardless of the type of wealth. If we consider a man who trades in livestock, those are trade goods; if he trades in cars, they are trade goods; if he trades in land, it is trade goods; if he trades in fabrics, they are trade goods; if he trades in watches, they are trade goods, and so on. The important point is that any wealth you prepare for trade is trade goods, and zakah is obligatory on it.
