A Note on the Sufficiency of Authentic Hadiths over Weak Hadiths, and That One Should Not Act Upon Weak Hadiths in Matters of Virtues

The Shaykh : Add to this, as is often mentioned, that what the Shari'ah has brought of established rulings by the Book and the authentic Sunnah is sufficient, making it unnecessary to act upon weak hadiths. This is the first point.
And secondly, human capacity in terms of bearing obligations and acts of worship is limited. Therefore, Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:286] If a Muslim diverts even a portion of his energy to acting upon virtues whose legitimacy is not established by authentic hadiths, then the amount of effort and energy spent on acting upon these weak hadiths is diverted by that same amount from acting upon the authentic Sunnah. This is also a matter you can perceive with me as clearly as touching it with your hand. You will find that most people who are afflicted with acting upon weak hadiths do not act upon the authentic hadiths and Sunnah. In fact, they may even be the cause of stirring up fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) when a scholar comes to them and points out that a certain Sunnah is authentic. Their stance, whether in their words or in their actions, becomes, "We have not heard of this among our forefathers." So, let them direct their intent and channel their energy toward acting upon what is established in the authentic Sunnah, rather than acting upon what is not established except in weak hadiths. But they are lost; they have no concept of what is authentic and what is weak. This is the problem of problems. Therefore, the resolution to this problem is to adopt the second opinion: it is not permissible to act upon a weak hadith in matters of virtues, because it is not permissible to narrate it except to clarify its status. So how is it permissible to act upon it?
And secondly, human capacity in terms of bearing obligations and acts of worship is limited. Therefore, Allah the Exalted said:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity
لا يكلف الله نفسا إلا وسعها
