Is the statement that a hadith is strengthened by the multiplicity of its routes the same as the concept of corroborating narrations and supporting chains?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A hadith is a hadith... corroborating narrations and supporting chains?

The Shaykh : No.

The questioner : Does the question concern the meaning of the text, or does it concern the chain of narration?

The Shaykh : It does not differ, my brother. These routes are referred to as supporting chains and corroborating narrations. This is a technical term that does not distinguish it from what we were discussing. If you read the words of al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir in *al-Ba'ith al-Hathith*, you will find that they sometimes use this term for that, and sometimes the reverse. Corroborating narrations are hadiths other than the first hadith, but sometimes the same hadith is intended, coming through other routes, and they are called corroborating narrations. So this is a technical term, and it is not a fixed technical term either, but rather it varies in different contexts. Anything else?
