Clarification of the three foundations of the Salafi call, namely the Noble Qur'an, the authentic Sunnah, and the understanding of the righteous Salaf.

The Shaykh : We say that the foundations of the Salafi call, as everyone knows, rest on three pillars. The first pillar is the Noble Qur'an, and the second pillar is the Sunnah, specifically the authentic Sunnah. The Salafis in all parts of the world focus on this aspect, the authentic Sunnah, because by the consensus of the scholars, things that are not part of it have entered the Sunnah over ten centuries ago. This is a matter on which there is no disagreement. Therefore, it is also agreed upon that the Sunnah must be purified from what has entered it that is not part of it. Thus, the Salafis adopt the position that this second principle, the Sunnah, should not be taken as it currently stands, because it contains weak and fabricated narrations that are not permissible to act upon, even in matters of the virtues of deeds. This is the second principle, and it is agreed upon by Muslims, both the Salaf and the Khalaf, to a great extent. The third principle is what distinguishes the Salafi call from all the calls existing today on earth, whether they are acceptable Islam or not Islam except in name. The Salafi call is distinguished by this third pillar, which is that the Qur'an and the Sunnah must be understood according to the methodology of the righteous Salaf, namely the Companions, the Tabi'un, and those who followed them, i.e., the three generations attested to as the best by numerous well-known hadiths.
This is something we have discussed on various occasions, and we have presented sufficient evidence that makes us certain that anyone who wants to understand Islam from the Book and the Sunnah without this third pillar will come up with a new Islam. The greatest proof of this is the Islamic sects that are increasing every day, and the reason for that is their failure to adhere to this methodology, which is the Book, the Sunnah, and the understanding of the righteous Salaf.
