The Shaykh’s clarification of some of the objectives of the Salafi call
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for its objectives, there is no doubt that one of its objectives is for them to establish the Islamic society, through which the ruling by Islam can be realized, not by anything else. Ruling by Islam in a non-Islamic society is two opposites that cannot coexist. Therefore, I conclude my answer to this question with a word that I consider to be of utmost wisdom. We say to all Muslims: “Establish the state of Islam in your hearts, and it will be established for you on your land.”

This is in response to what we hear very often, and very frequently indeed, from some people who have not understood the Salafi call, neither from the people who call to it directly nor from their writings. Rather, they understood the Salafi call from its opponents and enemies. These are the ones who bring about such a calamity in their misunderstanding of this call. Many people quote from us; some of them call us, and some of them fight us and attack us in secret. They say that we are calling all Muslims, even the common people, to understand directly from the Book and the Sunnah! And I say clearly: if there were actually people calling the ignorant, illiterate ones who cannot read or write to take jurisprudence, creed, and the entire religion directly from the Book and the Sunnah, while they are not even able to read a verse or a hadith narration correctly, then this person’s statement would be correct, and the statements of those enemies would be correct. But is the call like this? We call upon those who do not understand anything of the knowledge to climb up to the Book and the Sunnah, and to impose their ignorance, commonality, and illiteracy upon the Book and the Sunnah, and then say: “I understand it this way, and I am commanded to follow the Book and the Sunnah.” There is no Muslim, describe him however you wish, Salafi or Khalafi; there is no Muslim, ever, who says such a thing. And we have always said, and forever, and recently—meaning yesterday—people came to me from Homs, among them a young man who was somewhat cultured. He had heard of the known non-sectarianism and the like, which this writer refers to, indicating that we are calling all people to follow the Book and the Sunnah; meaning that the ignorant should understand the Book and the Sunnah through their ignorance. So I explained the issue to him with some detail.
