The Shaykh’s clarification of the meaning of the hadith: that it is not permissible to add to or precede other acts of worship with what has not been transmitted.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So I say that in the time when this hadith explicitly forbids preceding Ramadan by fasting one or two days, likewise, it is not permissible to precede any act of worship in this manner. Just as it is not permissible to connect to it acts of worship and obedience that are not part of it, it is necessary to have a separation that establishes the independence of this obligatory fast, which is the fast of Ramadan. It is necessary to separate it by breaking the fast before and after it, so that it is established that this obligation is solely the obligation of Ramadan, with nothing preceding it and nothing connected to it.
