The Shaykh’s explanation of the principles and rules that have diverted many people from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So what are those principles and rules that the later generations established, which diverted them from the Sunnah in terms of study, adherence, and response? In answer to that, I say that they can be limited to the following matters.
First: The statement of some scholars of theology that a single-narrator hadith does not establish a creed, and some Islamic preachers today have explicitly stated that it is not permissible to take the creed from it, but rather it is forbidden.
Second: Some of the rules adopted by some of the followed schools of jurisprudence in their principles. What comes to my mind now is the following.
A. Prioritizing analogical reasoning over a single-narrator report.
B. Rejecting a single-narrator report if it contradicts the principles.
C. Rejecting a hadith that contains a ruling in addition to the text of the Qur'an, on the claim that this abrogates it, and that the Sunnah does not abrogate the Qur'an.
D. Prioritizing the general over the specific in case of conflict, or the impermissibility of specifying the generality of the Qur'an with a single-narrator report.
E. Prioritizing the practice of the people of Madinah over an authentic hadith.
Third: Taqlid (following a scholar without knowing his evidence) and adopting it as a school of thought and a religion.
So let us now study these three principles in light of the Book, the Sunnah, and the preceding texts, so that we may discern their reality in three chapters, beginning with the first of them.
