The questioner : A person saw workers working during the time of prayer while he was on his way to the mosque, so he stopped with them, ordered them to pray, and advised them, then he missed the opening takbir because of his delay with these workers. Does he receive the reward of one who was present for the opening takbir or not? Please inform us of this?
The Shaykh : He receives a greater reward than one who was present for the opening takbir, because being present for the opening takbir is merely a recommended practice (sunnah), whereas advising these people and ordering them to do what is right is obligatory. Therefore, he is rewarded for that more than he is rewarded for catching the opening takbir.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
