How do we respond to those who say: How do you take your religion from the mouths of men whom you have trusted?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... regarding the authentic hadiths, they say that you only established their authenticity by vouching for the men who transmitted them. Then how do we take our religion from men, meaning from the mouths of men, meaning the vouching of the vouchers? Do we trust their vouching? How do we answer these people? How?

The Shaykh : These people who say such things, what are they? Are they scholars? Are they ignorant? Are they from the general Muslim public or what?

The questioner : Scholars.

The Shaykh : Scholars.

The questioner : But they are not from the people of the Sunnah, like the Ibadiyyah...

The Shaykh : The truth is that this type of person must be referred back to the first principle. How did the first Muslims receive the pillars of Islam? There is no doubt that the answer is one in which two Muslims who believed in Allah and His Messenger, and then believed the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in everything he brought to them from their Lord, would not differ. So they received the knowledge directly from the Prophet. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), after he had delivered the message and conveyed the trust, and the saying of Blessed and Exalted is He:
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. اليوم أكملت لكم دينكم و أتممت عليكم نعمتي و رضيت لكم الإسلام دينا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
, Allah the Mighty and Majestic raised him to Himself. And the Exalted said before that, so that people would not be grieved by what they did not expect, He said to him:
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die. إنّك ميّت و إنّهم ميّتون
[Az-Zumar 39:30]
. So after the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) died, did the Shari'ah of Islam end, or is it remaining as long as time remains or as long as the world remains? This is also a point of agreement among all Muslims that Islam remained alive and decisive, even though the one who brought it from Allah Blessed and Exalted is He, who is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), had departed from the world. Islam remained. And for that reason, he (peace be upon him) spoke, informed of such a reality:
I have left among you two things by which you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. تركت فيكم أمرين لن تضلّوا ما إن تمسّكتم بهما كتاب الله و سنّتي
. Now the role of the Messenger (peace be upon him) ended with his death after he had delivered to the people the message of their Lord, and the role of another intermediary came. Who is this other intermediary? There is no doubt that they are the scholars. And for this reason.
