Clarification that it is not a condition for the Friday prayer to be performed under a roof.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We form a congregation and we are able to pray the Friday prayer even in a place that is not roofed, as some scholars insist that the place must be roofed, meaning a mosque. This condition does not exist in the Book of Allah or in the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Rather, it contradicts the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade
[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]
to the end of the verse. It is established with us that the Bedouins and nomads who follow the locations of pasture, grass, and water would settle in those places and pray the Friday prayer. Therefore, the only condition for the validity of the Friday prayer is the congregation. As for the other conditions, they are all based on independent legal reasoning and there is no evidence for them from the hadiths of the Messenger (peace be upon him). Yes, what is your opinion?
Abu Layla : ... Our Shaykh, in your opinion.

The Shaykh : Okay; does anyone have an opinion from which we can benefit?

The questioner : I have an opinion, O Shaykh. Since the legal ruling is that there is no harm in praying here, we pray here.

The Shaykh : And he ... Rely upon Allah, prepare the place.
Yes.
