The questioner : Recently, letters were published by a writer named Abdul-Razzaq al-Shaji under several titles, aiming to strike at and distort Salafiyyah and the scholars. In these letters, there were some phrases in which we wanted to seek your opinion. In his books, he mocked your person and mentioned your students. On page six of his book *The Broad Lines of the Principles of the Claimants to Salafiyyah*, he said, "And their madhhab, that is, the claimants to Salafiyyah, is based on the denial of enjoining good and forbidding evil except with the permission of the imam, according to their claim, and the denial of jihad, and the denial of calling to Allah, and the denial of looking into the state of the Ummah, and their preoccupation with warring against the righteous, pursuing their faults and their slips, and driving people away from them." And he said on page eight in the introduction, "So these are the broad lines of a new thought claiming affiliation to Salafiyyah, fabricated in the garment of Salafiyyah unjustly, and wrapped in the cloak of the people of the Sunnah and the community falsely, which results in the destruction of every existing da'wah effort, the invalidation of the obligation of jihad in the path of Allah, and enjoining good and forbidding evil, and further tearing apart the unity of the Islamic Ummah." And he said on page 24, "The obligation to boycott and withdraw from political work. He said, until one of them said, 'It is not wise for a person to leave the hais for the lays.'" He is referring to that, to
The Shaykh : What is not?
The questioner : "It is not wise for a person to leave the hais for the lays." He is referring to what he explicitly stated in his book which explains these broad lines, in his book *Lights on the Thought of the New Salafi Da'wah*, a response to Dr. Mubarak ibn Saif in his response to this idea... He explicitly stated here, meaningThe Shaykh : Abu Shuqra, something like that. The Shaykh : Ali said, "If you had read, my brother Mubarak, the book *Salafiyyah: Affiliation, Creed, and Methodology* by Shaykh Muhammad Abu Shuqra, and the small branches of this book, including *A Realistic Vision of Da'wah Groups*, *Collective Work Between Party Gathering and Shari'ah Cooperation*, and *Fiqh of Reality*, and these books by Ali Hasan Ali Abd al-Hamid,Al-Halabi : You would have known the principles of this newly invented Salafiyyah. It is no jihad because there is no imam, and give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to Allah what belongs to Allah, and do not look at reality, and do not know what is going on around you, because this is forbidden, and do not object to Jews or Christians, because this is your qadar, until the end of his words. He even said, 'Thus, and Allah, they say.'" This person, O Shaykh, began his broad principles by mentioning to you a great principle. He said that it, meaning it contained 52 principles of these claimants...
And he began with the first principle, saying, "Khawarij with the da'is, Murji'ah with the rulers, Rafidah with the groups, Qadariyyah with the Jews, Christians, and disbelievers." What is your opinion of this?
The Shaykh : What can I say? First, this man appears to have not been educated in the etiquette of the Qur'an when the Exalted said:[An-Najm 53:36-38] If it is verified that some individuals said words, then if weighed by the scale of the Shari'ah, the scale of the Book and the Sunnah, and on the methodology of the Salaf al-Salih, if weighed by this scale, that speech would be an error, at the very least. It is not permissible to attribute this error to everyone who affiliates with the methodology of the Salaf al-Salih. It is sufficient from what is written in its title, as they say. There is no group that affiliates with the Book and the Sunnah and with what the Salaf al-Salih were upon that says such words which this writer attributes to them. This is from one aspect. From another aspect, he accuses them of being Khawarij in such and such, and Murji'ah in such and such, and so on. Is this from the etiquette of the Qur'an which says: [Al-Hujurat 49:11]? So this man is either ignorant, or he is a malicious, envious person. We ask Allah to teach him if he is ignorant, and to cure him if he is afflicted with something of those diseases, which, unfortunately, their effects are now appearing in many of the youth who may understand something of the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah, but many things are hidden from them. And even if they know a lot, they have not been raised with the correct Islamic upbringing. Therefore, we must remember that knowledge in relation to action is like the means in relation to the goal. So the one who knows but does not act is like the one who performs wudu' but does not pray; his wudu' does not benefit him and does not bring him closer to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He.
