Is it permissible to enter parliament?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... Is it permissible to participate ... in the parliament ... of the state?

The Shaykh : What did you say at the end?

The questioner : Is it permissible to participate in the parliament?

The Shaykh : If the parliament does not rule by the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), then we do not see the permissibility of participating; because this participation means participating in ruling by other than what Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has revealed. This is from one aspect. From another aspect, in some countries, the participating members of parliament are required to take an oath to support the constitution, and the constitution is not based on the Book and the Sunnah. It may be based on the name, but in reality, it contradicts the Shari'ah in many details of what is in the constitution, let alone what is in the law that explains the constitution. So we do not see the permissibility of supporting these constitutions and these governments that do not declare that they rule by what Allah has revealed.
