We read in Al-Albani’s book on the ruling regarding the face covering for women, in which he stated that a woman’s face and hands are not 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) and cited the evidence, and we read in other books by scholars

The questioner : We read in the book *The Hijab of the Muslim Woman* by Shaykh Nasser regarding the ruling on the face covering, in which he stated that the face and hands are not 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) and presented the evidence. Then he mentioned other books by our brothers in Saudi Arabia, in which they stated that the face and hands are 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered). How do we reconcile the two? There are two aspects to this.

The Shaykh : The question is flawed in this way. One should study the evidence of both groups and then stop at the evidence that opens the door to the doubt (shubhah) that leads one to ask the question. As for how we reconcile them? I am at a loss regarding Al-Albani’s book; that means composing a book that requires an answer to this question. However, the important thing in this matter for a true student of knowledge is that he tracks the evidence of these scholars and the evidence of those scholars. He will inevitably find that some of the evidence of one group is accepted by him and some is not, and he will find that some of the evidence of the other group is accepted and some is not. The evidence about which he has a doubt is what he should properly raise as a question and listen to the answer if he did not find the answer in that book. I believe he will find the answer. This research, in truth, is lengthy, because it means repeating what we wrote in the book after years of study, gathering thought, and focusing the mind, and so on. No matter how well a person masters and excels in answering the question, it will be below the level of the one who gathered his thought over many long days and hours.
Therefore, I return to saying: If you have a doubt regarding our evidence that concerns us, raise it so that we can answer it. As for anything else,
Abu Layla : I advise him to leave the role to others, because we did not gather for his sake.
