Among the defects of political parties is the obedience to the party leader, similar to the major obedience to the Commander of the Faithful.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is right.

The questioner : But now, my point, I mean, Shaykh, is about the brothers who are, if Allah wills, upon the Book and the Sunnah and the methodology of the Salaf, but they have differences. For example, one believes in a leadership like the leadership of travel, which is not a pledge of allegiance, just a leadership to organize the situation. And this one says there is no need to call it by that name; rather, this is a president and a vice president, all of it being an organization to manage the issue of da'wah.

The Shaykh : There is absolutely no objection to this.

The questioner : Whether it is called a leader or not.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : So the difference in this form is that some of them

The Shaykh : But they do not apply the rulings of the major leadership to this leadership. This is the important point.

The questioner : This form is absolutely not acceptable.

The Shaykh : I say they do not apply, meaning we forbid them from applying that. I am not asking you if they do it this way. I mean, so-and-so divided the term "leader" into president of the group, they call so-and-so president of the company, so-and-so principal of the school. What is wrong with that? There is nothing wrong with it. But the principal of the school gives an order. It is originally permissible in the Shari'ah, but it is not obligatory for the others to adopt it as if the leader were the Commander of the Faithful who gave the order. So these rulings related to the major leadership, these rulings related to the major leadership, if they are not given to the minor leadership—let us call it leadership—if these specific rulings of the major leadership are not given to the minor leadership, there is no objection to calling him a leader, because the reality relates to meanings, not words. So the organization, meaning this house, however humble it is, if there is no organization, it becomes chaos, and the work does not go well, and so on. So this organization is necessary. But the organization that is happening today, for example, if the president of such-and-such a party orders the group, those belonging to him, to boycott such-and-such a group, and it is obligatory to execute this order, this is not permissible in Islam.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Excuse me, do not say that, because I am not speaking.

The questioner : You, in general.

The Shaykh : Yes, I am speaking in general, and this happens often, and very often, between the parties here in Oman. A decision was issued by the Muslim Brotherhood to boycott Al-Albani and anyone known to be from Al-Albani's circle, and this decision was executed for more than a year. This is very regrettable. Then they expelled a group of Muslim Brothers because they attend Al-Albani's lessons, and they warned them for six months. They call it what? They froze them. They froze them.

Another questioner : Under review.

The Shaykh : Yes.

Another questioner : Under review means under study.

The Shaykh : For six months, they warned them. At first, they said to him, it is not permissible to have loyalty to the group and loyalty to so-and-so. Loyalty is not for more than one group. Our companions, these are the ones who warned and froze, said, "O people."The Shaykh : Al-Albani has no bloc and no party, but he fights all these things. Rather, he has knowledge, and we benefit from his knowledge in a way we do not benefit from others. What does it mean that we are loyal? It will not happen. We do not have loyalty to individuals and persons. They said to him, it will not be like that, the system. After six months, they contacted them, they sent for them, and they said, it has been reported to us that you are still, yes, and we will remain so. If they expelled them after the freezing, the expulsion happened. Yes, this is blind obedience. This is not permissible in Islam. The Caliph who is pledged to by the general Muslims must possess the qualities that make him worthy of being the Imam of the Muslims, a major Imamate. He must be a scholar, he must be righteous, he must be wise, he must place things in their proper places, and so on. A group leader may rule by other than what Allah has revealed. The group leader himself may have in his family what is not as Allah and His Messenger ordered, and so on. And yet, if this decision is issued, it must be executed. This is what we deny with the strongest denial. We do not deny organization for managing the affairs of a house, a school, a group, and so on. But we deny an organization that leads to violating the Shari'ah rulings. For example, in Islam, there is no pledge of allegiance except to one person in the world, and that is the Muslim Caliph. And therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, to confirm this meaning:
When oath of allegiance has been taken for two caliphs, kill the one for whom the oath was taken later. إذا بويع لخليفتين فاقتلوا آخرهما
Sahih Muslim 1853
Kill the last of them. Now, how many leaders are pledged to in the Islamic world, and a leadership whose obedience is blind? If he says, "Boycott so-and-so," and we boycott, this is not permissible. Like that. And therefore, there is no harm in such an organization, and let us call it an administrative organization.

The questioner : Like the management of affairs and da'wah.

The Shaykh : Only.
