Continuation of the Shaykh's remarks on al-Saqaf.

The Shaykh : The point is, when the man stood before me in a posture of supposed reverence, I said to him, "Sit down." He said, "No, we respect our scholars." I said, "You respect the scholars, and you did what you did? I have no conversation with you." I turned to our brother here, Nuha, and began to answer his questions. Look at this wicked man, how he instills misguidance! He claims that it is true that Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) is in the Fire, or is among the people of the Fire? I said, "I seek refuge in Allah from what you say." He said, "This is what he tells me." I spoke with him about what is not hidden from you, namely that he is a Companion, and that these people, praise be to Allah, came with the Companions of their Prophet. This al-Saqaf began to speak, mentioning some of his errors, such as his killing of 'Ali and the like. I said, "You are a man specialized in tracking stumbles, and as I told you just now, I have no conversation with you because you are from the people of desires, so I do not speak to you." I turned to my companion and ended the session without responding to him. The point is, these two meetings only, from about eight or nine years ago here, and I refused to research there, and I also refrained from debating with him.
