Some of the da'wah workers who entered the parliaments are calling for democracy. What is the ruling on this?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, many of the calls you see nowadays to enter parliaments and ministries are defending democracy and adopting it. We know that democracy is the rule of taghut and is disbelief. So where do these people stand? In fact, I heard one of them say, when he saw an article by Shaykh Abu Malik in the new magazine al-Asalah, "Do you allow me to respond to this article in which Shaykh attacks and criticizes democracy, and so on?" This means they are adopting it and calling to it. So what do we say about these people?

The Shaykh : My brother, I do not think I or anyone else has an answer other than what has been mentioned before. It is necessary to distinguish between the two matters. If the person you are referring to had written a response to Professor Abu Malik's article, his position would then become clear: whether he is a disbeliever who has apostatized from his religion, or whether he is weak in faith and wants to practice hypocrisy and flatter, or something similar. It is not enough for you to know this, and this also leads us to a discussion that may also be important. In the previous session, we mentioned the verse with its three parts:
Then those are the disbelievers فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ
,
Then those are the wrongdoers.فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ
,
Then those are the open sinnersفَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
, and we pointed out that just as disbelief is divided into these two categories, so too is open sinfulness.
