Explaining the severity of major shirk, such as seeking help or calling for aid from the awliya (close friends of Allah) and others besides Allah the Exalted.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is obligatory for the people of knowledge in all lands of Islam to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and to clarify to the common people who have been deceived in these matters that this is shirk, major shirk. And Allah said regarding those who associate partners with Allah in major shirk:
Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers. إنه من يشرك بالله فقد حرم الله عليه الجنة ومأواه النار وما للظالمين من أنصار
[Al-Ma'idah 5:72]
Those who call upon anyone other than Allah to remove hardship or to obtain benefit—indeed, their prayer, charity, fasting, and Hajj do not benefit them. Why? Because the mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) is not benefited by righteous knowledge. Allah the Exalted said:
But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing. ولو أشركوا لحبط عنهم ما كانوا يعملون
[Al-An'am 6:88]
Previous deeds are nullified if a person associates partners with Allah and dies upon shirk.
And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally. ومن يرتدد منكم عن دينه فيمت وهو كافر فأولئك حبطت أعمالهم في الدنيا والآخرة وأولئك أصحاب النار هم فيها خالدون
[Al-Baqarah 2:217]
I am telling you this for two reasons:
The first reason is that we have all heard what is in the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) describing the messengers as servants of Allah.
The second is that I heard yesterday of someone rubbing against the Ka'bah and saying, "O Allah, O Messenger of Allah." The first word is true, "O Allah," but the second word is false. It invalidates the first word; it erases it completely.
And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed. وقدمنا إلى ما علموا من عمل فجعلناه هباءً منثوراً
[Al-Furqan 25:23]
But some people advised them and said, "This is shirk," and I saw relief and acceptance on their faces. This indicates that these common people, if they were alerted and informed, would become upright, because they desire good but they are ignorant.
