The amount of zakah to be given to the poor and the needy

The Shaykh : Here we ask: How much do we give the poor person from the zakah? How much do we give the needy person? How much do we give the one who collects it? How much do we give those whose hearts are to be reconciled? We say, first, regarding the poor and the needy: we give them what suffices them and their families for one year, for one year. So if his salary, pay attention, if his annual salary is twenty-four thousand and his annual expenses are thirty-six thousand, how much do we give him from the zakah? We give him twelve thousand, because that is what suffices him for one year. If someone asks, why did you limit the giving to one year?
