The Shaykh : He said:
"Ascribing a body to Allah, likening Allah to creation, and the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance who are deluded by falsehood and raving"
This is the idol. If you say, "Allah rose above the Throne," and then you place your hand on your head in astonishment and disapproval, saying, "I seek refuge in Allah! A body upon a body?" Yes, if you say, "He comes," I seek refuge in Allah! A body! Fear Allah, be mindful of Allah, and do not describe Allah with ascribing a body to Him. A child of intellect, what is he? He is repelled by this, and the coward runs away from it. He says, "I seek refuge in Allah; I do not ascribe a body to Him." But if I say, "He rose above the Throne," does that make me one who ascribes a body to Him? He said, "Yes." He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from this." Then tell me, may Allah reward you with good, what is the meaning of "He rose above the Throne"? He said, "It means He took control, because of what? Because He does not want to ascribe a body to Him, because they played with it." He said, "If you affirm this, you have become one who ascribes a body to Him and one of the people of ascribing a body to Him and likening Allah to creation." The person who lacks understanding, who is small in intellect, thinks that this statement is a reality, so he stops and says, "I seek refuge in Allah from ascribing a body to Him and from everything that necessitates ascribing a body to Him." Then he denies the attributes that Allah has affirmed for Himself with this false argument. So Ibn al-Qayyim showed us, after making us yearn to know this idol, that the idol is what? Ascribing a body to Him. The raid on the people of the Sunnah and the community is through ascribing a body to Him. Yes, and Allah knows best.
