The Shaykh’s warning to take into account the condition of those being addressed.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: My brother, the style is wrong by a million. Speak to people according to their understanding. Do you want to lie to Allah and His Messenger? May Allah protect us from that. But he did not speak to people according to their understanding. As you all know, the Companions were scrupulous about narrating the authentic hadith
He who died knowing (fully well) that there is no god but Allah entered Paradise. من مات وهو يشهد أنه لا إله إلا الله دخل الجنة
Sahih Muslim 26a
, and some of them did not narrate this hadith until death was near. Why?

The questioner: Out of fear.

The Shaykh: I do not say yes, it was out of fear; rather, he conveyed it out of fear. But I am speaking about why he did not narrate this hadith: it is because he feared it would be understood contrary to the intention of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So we say now, look into the reports of these noble Companions who did not narrate such a hadith except at the end of their lives. We say it is not permissible for a Muslim to do what some ignorant storytellers and preachers do, saying, "Whoever says there is no god but Allah enters Paradise," and the mosque erupts, and praise be to Allah, and so on. It is not permissible to narrate this hadith except as stated in Sahih al-Bukhari, as a hanging narration from Ka'b al-Ahbar: "The key to Paradise is there is no god but Allah, but the key must have teeth, otherwise it will not open. The teeth of there is no god but Allah are acting in accordance with its requirements," or as he said. The point is, a man named Zayd narrated this hadith to a large audience. Oh... Allah. The people do not understand this hadith except in a wrong way. May Allah guide you. It is a mistake, but this mistake is not recorded against him in such a way that we sit and argue, fight, and hate each other, and so on. We cannot do such things, neither I, nor he, nor you, nor Zayd, except that such things happen. What concerns us is the soundness of the creed. Is this man's creed that the Mu'tazilah are on the right path from their Lord? May Allah protect us from that, and so on. The Rafidah? No. If it is necessary to say so, what should be said? What happened?
Shuqara: Listen. The Shaykh : His comment is that he is actually one of the most critical of them.

The Shaykh: And this is known, truly, glory be to Allah. So criticizing the style of speech, the style of speech, everyone, I am excited now, I am a bit... even though I am completely calm. There may be hidden things in the corners, as they say.The Shaykh : Why are you excited? By Allah, you are wrong. The Shaykh : We have not seen this from him. Why? Because he is a human being, not a stone. He must make mistakes. He must get excited. He must be calm. But the one who is able to listen is putting on a microscope and observing with precision. We say this speech has no beginning or end that justifies him saying it. So we say this is a mistake. We say he should have clarified, but perhaps the occasion was not one for clarification.

The questioner: I agree with you completely in everything you said, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Good. May Allah reward you with good. What did you remember from your speech?
