The meaning of his saying: "And indeed, a man may do the deeds of the people of the Fire until there is nothing between him and it but an arm's length, when the record overtakes him, and he does the deeds of the people of Paradise"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second is the opposite: he does the deeds of the people of the Fire, being a disbeliever, an atheist, a wicked one who causes corruption on earth. But Allah has known good in him, so when there is nothing left between him and the Fire but an arm's length, the record overtakes him, and he does the deeds of the people of Paradise and enters it, because Allah has known good in his heart. We ask Allah to make us and you among those in whose hearts He has known good.
O Prophet, say to whoever is in your hands of the captives, "If Allah knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." يا أيها النبي قل لمن في أيديكم من الأسرى إن يعلم الله في قلوبكم خيرا يؤتكم خيرا مما أخذ منكم ويغفر لكم والله غفور رحيم
[Al-Anfal 8:70]
O Allah, forgive us. Good.
