ألهاكم االتكاثر حتى زرتم المقابر

"Al-Takathur." To whom is this address directed? To mankind. "Al-Takathur" means in wealth and children, as Allah Mighty and Majestic said:

the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another

إنما الحياة الدنيا لعب ولهو وزينة وتفاخر بينكم

[Al-Hadid 57:20]

Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward.

[At-Taghabun 64:15]

. How many a person was upright, committed, and turning toward Allah, but when his wealth increased, may Allah protect us, the wealth distracted him, the wealth distracted him, and when his children increased, the children distracted him. Allah the Exalted said:

O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah

يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تهلكم أموالكم ولا أولادكم عن ذكر الله

[Al-Munafiqun 63:9]
