Explanation of the Book of Prayer and Its Times-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abdullah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, saying: Malik informed us from Ibn Shihab from Ubayd Allah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah from Abdullah ibn Abbas, who said:
Once I came riding a she-ass and I, then, had just attained the age of puberty. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was leading the people in prayer at Mina facing no wall. I passed in front of the row and let loose the sheass for grazing and joined the row and no one objected to my deed.
Sahih al-Bukhari 861
. He narrated to us...

The Shaykh : He said: The chapter on the imam's sutrah being the sutrah of those behind him. He cited as evidence the hadith of Abdullah ibn Abbas. The point of evidence is that he said:
I passed in front of some of the row. There I dismounted and let my she-ass loose to graze مررت بين يدي بعض الصف فنزلت وأرسلت الأتان ترتع
Sahih al-Bukhari 493
This indicates that the imam's sutrah is the sutrah of those behind him. Otherwise, it would be forbidden to pass in front of part of the row, because passing in front of the one praying and his sutrah is among the major sins, as previously mentioned. Since Ibn Abbas was approved of and no one objected to him, this indicates that the imam's sutrah is the sutrah of those behind him. Accordingly, if something that invalidates prayer, such as a woman, a donkey, or a black dog, passes in front of the imam, his prayer is invalidated, and the prayer of those behind him is also invalidated, because his sutrah is their sutrah. So if his prayer is invalidated due to the passing, the prayer of those behind him is invalidated. Yes.

The questioner : ... prayed facing something other than a wall
