Explanation of the Book of the Adhan-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn Abban narrated to us, and Ghundar narrated to us from Shu'bah from Abu al-Tayyakh that he heard Anas ibn Malik say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abu Dharr:
Listen and obey (your chief) even if he is an Ethiopian with a head like a raisin. اسمع وأطع ولو لحبشي كأن رأسه زبيبة
Sahih al-Bukhari 696

The Shaykh : This translation is about the imamate of the one afflicted with fitnah and the innovator. The one afflicted with fitnah is the one who is struck by a trial in religion, for example, by pursuing women, may Allah protect us, or pursuing boys, or something similar, or he is struck by a trial in his religion by dealing in riba (usury or interest) or other types of trials. The innovator is also one afflicted with fitnah, but the fitnah of the innovator is greater and more specific because it relates to creed. The innovator is divided into two categories: the innovator whose innovation makes him a disbeliever, and one does not pray behind him in any case, even if he claims to be a Muslim, because his innovation is one that makes him a disbeliever, so one does not pray behind him. How can one pray behind a person one believes to be a disbeliever? The prayer of a disbeliever is not valid. As for the innovation that does not make one a disbeliever, even if it is great, one prays behind its practitioner, provided that praying behind him does not include a harm such that people are deceived by him or he is deceived. People are deceived by him, thinking he is not an innovator when they see so-and-so praying behind him and so-and-so praying behind him. And the deception is also in himself; he is deceived by himself and thinks he is on the right path. So the innovator is now divided into two categories: the first is the innovator whose innovation makes him a disbeliever, and one does not pray behind him, and there is no honor for him. The second is the innovator whose innovation does not make him a disbeliever, and one prays behind him. And as al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Pray, and let his innovation be upon him". Now, does one pray behind one who eats riba openly or by trickery? Yes, one prays behind him, and the sin of his deed is upon him.
