Is shaving the beard considered one of the major sins, and is there a hadith from the Prophet that specifies the severe punishment for one who shaves his beard?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner is from the Arab Republic of Egypt. He says, “O honorable Shaykh, is shaving the beard considered one of the major sins? And is there a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that specifies the severe punishment for one who shaves his beard? I ask you to provide us with information.”

The Shaykh : Shaving the beard is one of the major sins due to the persistence of those who shave it. That is, those who shave their beards persist in doing so, continue with it, and openly defy the Sunnah. For this reason, shaving the beard has become a major sin in terms of persisting in it.
As for the hadiths reported on this matter, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed us that it is part of the fitrah (the innate natural disposition). That is, letting the beard grow is part of the fitrah, and as for one who shaves it... Yes.
Letting the beard grow is part of the fitrah. Based on this, one who shaves it is contrary to what people were created with.
Second, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed us that shaving the beard is the practice of the Majus (the Zoroastrians) and the mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah). We are commanded to differ from the Majus and the mushrikin, indeed from every disbeliever, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)
He who copies any people is one of them.
Sunan Abi Dawud 4031Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said in his book "Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim" "Its chain is good, and the least of its rulings is prohibition, even though its apparent meaning implies that the one who imitates them is a disbeliever".
Fourth, the Prophet (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) commanded letting the beard grow and said
Let the beards grow.
In another wording
Let them be generous
In another wording
Let them be lenient
And he said
Differ from the polytheists, differ from the Zoroastrians.
.
The principle, according to most scholars, is that the commands of Allah and His Messenger are for obligation until there is something that diverts them from that.
Another aspect, which I think is the fifth, is that letting the beard grow is the way of the Prophet (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) and the way of the previous messengers. The reader reads the saying of Allah the Exalted regarding Harun (Aaron) when he said to his brother Musa (Moses)
O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head
[Taha 20:94]
.
The one who knows the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has been informed that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had a large beard. If a person of sound mind were given the choice between the way of the prophets and messengers and the way of the mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah), what would he choose? If he is a person of sound mind, he will choose the way of the prophets and messengers and stay away from the way of the Majus (the Zoroastrians) and the mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah).
For this reason, we advise our Muslim brothers to fear Allah. We say, fear Allah. We say, fear Allah. Comply with the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to let the beard grow. For Allah said
So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order, lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.
[An-Nur 24:63]
Imam Ahmad said "Do you know what fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) is? Fitnah is shirk (associating partners with Allah). Perhaps if he rejects part of his speech, something of deviation may enter his heart and he will perish" So the matter is great.
So we address all our Muslim brothers to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and to hold fast to the way of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) so that they may be rewarded for it. And so that they may have a good appearance with the beard with which Allah adorned the faces of men, and a good inner state, which is a good heart. For the more a person holds fast to the religion of Allah, the better his heart becomes. And let us listen to the saying of Allah the Exalted
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
[An-Nahl 16:97]
We will surely give him a good life
We ask Allah the Exalted to make our hearts good through His remembrance and faith in Him.

The questioner : Amen.

The Shaykh : And to guide all Muslims to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

The questioner : O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad. May Allah reward you, honorable Shaykh.
