What is the standard for a woman's clothing in the presence of her mahrams?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for a woman to wear a garment with short sleeves in the presence of her mahrams?

The Shaykh : A woman is commanded to wear covering clothing. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "The clothing of the women of the Companions in their homes was the qamis", meaning garments like these, "and covering what is between the wrist and the ankle". These are the clothes of the women of the Companions; the entire body is covered. There is no doubt that this is more perfect in faith, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Modesty is part of faith الحياء من الإيمان
.
If the door is opened for women to be expansive in their clothing, there is no standard for it, and every woman would wear whatever she wishes. However, if, for example, a woman works in the house and exposes her arm for the sake of work, or her leg for the sake of work, there is nothing wrong with it, provided that the garment is covering in its original state.
