The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and 'Amr al-Naqid narrated to us, saying: Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, from Shayban, from Hilaal ibn Abi Humayd, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, from 'A'ishah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, in the illness from which he did not recover: "May Allah curse the Jews and the Christians; they took the graves of their prophets as mosques." She said: "If it had not been for that, his grave would have been made public, but he feared that it would be taken as a mosque."
And in the narration of Ibn Abi Shaybah:
If it had not been for that, it would not have been mentioned. She said: ولولا ذاك لم يذكر قالت
.

The Shaykh : And this, and Allah knows best, is a display of juristic insight (tafqih) from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that his grave was not made public for fear that it would be taken as a mosque, so it was left in his grave so that it would not be taken as a mosque. However, it has been reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the prophets are buried where they passed away, so this may be the reason, and what 'A'ishah said was a display of juristic insight from her own understanding.
