The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-03a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And al-Hakam ibn Musa al-Qantari narrated to me, and 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us. He said: And Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, and Abu Khalid and Abu Usamah both narrated to us from Hisham from Muhammad from Abu Hurayrah
Anas said the Prophet forbade that a man should drink standing. Muslim transmitted it. عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه نهى أن يصلي الرجل مختصرا
Mishkat al-Masabih 4266
In the narration of Abu Bakr, it was said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it.

The Shaykh : "Khtisar" means that a man places his hand on his waist like this. A reason was given for this prohibition, stating that it is the practice of the Jews. We have seen many of our brothers place their right hand over their left like this. I fear that this is a type of khtisar, because he places his hand on his waist. They claim that the heart is located here, and that placing the hand on the heart is better. This is a preference without any basis. Rather, the right hand should be placed over the left in the middle.
