Explanation of the Book of Hajj-07a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu al-Walid narrated to us, and Layth narrated to us from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn 'Abd Allah from his father (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
I have not seen the Prophet (ﷺ) touching except the two Yemenite Corners لم أر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يستلم من البيت إلا الركنين اليمانيين
Sahih al-Bukhari 1609

The Shaykh : The narration of this hadith is not completed in its context in al-Bukhari. This is because when 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him):
There is no part of the House that is untouchable. ليس شيء من البيت مهجوراً
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 858Hasan (Darussalam)
, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas said to him:
Indeed, there was for you in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful example, and I did not see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) touch anything except the two Yemeni corners. لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة ، وما رأيت النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم يستلم إلا الركنين اليمانين
. Mu'awiyah then returned to the statement of Ibn 'Abbas. We have previously mentioned that the wisdom behind not touching these two corners is that they are not on the foundations of Ibrahim. It appears to me that the rounding of the stone was done later, because if two corners had remained, people would have touched them. Since it is rounded in this way, there is nothing to be touched, and this falls under the category of avoiding what should not be done. Even though the circuit will be longer for those performing tawaf, it is for the sake of benefit. Pay attention to this. It appears to me, and Allah knows best, that they chose to make it rounded so that it would not have corners to be touched. Yes.
