Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for a person to supplicate and persist in supplication by saying, “O Allah, if You do not forgive me, then forgive me”?

The Shaykh : By Allah, this is not appropriate. Rather, one should be resolute in asking, or say as the righteous ones said:
If our Lord does not have mercy upon us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers." لئن لم يغفر لنا ربنا ويرحمنا لنكونن من الخاسرين
[Al-A'raf 7:149]
