Benefits of the Hadith: (I am your forerunner at the Pond; whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again thereafter...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This hadith indicates the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) eagerness for his Ummah and that he will precede them to the Pond to give them drink. May Allah make me and you among those whom He gives drink. However, some people will be brought to him and cut off from it, so he will not be able to give them drink. He will ask about them and say:
my companions أصحابي
It will be said to him:
You do not know what they did after you had left. إنك لا تدري ما أحدثوا بعدك
Sahih al-Bukhari 6576
meaning that they have innovated matters that necessitate their being deprived of drinking from the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Pond. However, this does not indicate that if they are punished by being prevented from drinking from the Pond, they will not enter Paradise, for they may be punished by this and prevented from drinking from the Pond, yet they are not among the people of the Fire. Then, the Rafidah cited this hadith as evidence that all the Companions apostatized from the religion of Islam, except the Ahl al-Bayt and a small group who can be counted on the fingers. They claimed that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I will say, 'O Lord, my companions!' It will be said, 'You do not know what they did after you had left.' أي رب أصحابي فيقال : إنك لا تدري ما أحدثوا بعدك
Sahih al-Bukhari 6576
whereas the hadith says:
Men from among you. رجال منكم
