Is the reward for prayer in one of the mosques of Mecca the same as the reward for prayer in al-Masjid al-Haram?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding, O Shaykh, prayer inside the Makkah Haram, is the reward the same in Mecca and in the outskirts of Mecca? Does a person receive the same reward?

The Shaykh : Yes, the correct view in this matter is that one does not receive the reward. That is, the mosques other than al-Masjid al-Haram do not carry that reward. This is because the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
and his prayer in the Sacred Mosque is equal to one hundred thousand prayers صلاة في المسجد الحرام بمائة ألف صلاة فيما سواه
Sunan Ibn Majah 1413Da’if (Darussalam)
refers to the mosque of the Ka'bah. It is established in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
A prayer in this mosque of mine is better than a thousand prayers in any other mosque, except the Mosque of the Ka'bah. صلاة في مسجدي هذا أفضل من ألف صلاة فيما سواه إلا مسجد الكعبة
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 12:1026
, and this is an explicit text.
And Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى
[Al-Isra 17:1]
And he was taken in the night journey from al-Hijr. Do you know al-Hijr? Do you know al-Hijr? It is al-Hijr of the Ka'bah, right? Al-Hijr of the Ka'bah, which is the short northern wall.
So, al-Masjid al-Haram is the mosque of the Ka'bah. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not set out on a journey except for three Mosques i.e. Al-Masjid-AI-Haram لا تُشدوا الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد: المسجد الحرام
Sahih al-Bukhari 1189
So what do you think if you set out on a journey to a mosque in al-'Aziziyah in Mecca? Is it permissible or not? It is not permissible.
So, al-Masjid al-Haram in which one prayer is worth a hundred thousand prayers is the al-Masjid al-Haram to which journeys are made.
But we say: There is no doubt that prayer in the Haram, which is not only in Mecca, but in the surrounding Haram, which is all the boundaries of the Haram, is better than prayer in al-Hil, and there is no doubt in this.

The questioner : The expansion, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : No, no, be patient, we have not reached the expansion yet. For example: Is Muzdalifah currently in the Haram or not in the Haram?

The questioner : It is in the Haram.

The Shaykh : Mina?

The questioner : It is in the Haram.

The Shaykh : It is in the Haram, and likewise everything around Mecca up to the miles is all in the Haram. Prayer in this Haram is better than prayer in al-Hil, and the evidence for that is: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was staying at al-Hudaybiyah, part of which is in al-Hil and part is in the Haram. He was staying in al-Hil, but he prayed inside the Haram. That is, he would move from al-Hil to the Haram and pray in it. He stayed in al-Hil because it is more spacious for a person. In the Haram, one does not cut down a tree, nor does one mow the grass. So he stayed in al-Hil to have more space, to cut down trees, and to mow the grass. Also, sins in al-Hil are lighter than sins in the Haram. Yes, so the important point that we see is this.
Someone might ask you: Why was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at al-Hudaybiyah in al-Hil and praying in the Haram? This indicates that it is better.
We say: Yes, it is better. But what is our discussion about? It is about the hundred thousand. The discussion is not about whether this is better or not better. Yes ... oppression is darkness
