The Book of Jumu'ah, the Two Festivals, the Prayer for Rain, the Eclipse Prayer, and Funerals-01a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Muhammad ibn Hatim narrated to me, saying: Bahz narrated to us, saying: Wahib narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Tawus narrated to us from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
it is the right of Allah upon every Muslim that he should take a bath (at least) on one day (Friday) during the seven days (of the week) and he should wash his head and body. حق لله على كل مسلم أن يغتسل في كل سبعة أيام يغسل رأسه وجسده
Sahih Muslim 849
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
This, as mentioned previously, indicates that the full ritual bath is obligatory for Friday, because of his saying:
it is the right of Allah upon every Muslimحقّ لله على كلّ مسلم
Sahih Muslim 849
, and the phrase "a right of Allah upon" is clear in indicating obligation. Furthermore, linking this to Islam is also evidence that this is among the requirements of Islam.
And his saying:
that he should take a bath (at least) on one day (Friday) during the seven days (of the week) and he should wash his head and body. أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ فِي كُلِّ سَبْعَةِ أَيَّامٍ، يَغْسِلُ رَأْسَهُ وَجَسَدَهُ
Sahih Muslim 849
does not specify when this full ritual bath is to be performed, but the other hadiths indicate that it is to be done on Friday. Thus, this is an unrestricted statement that was restricted by the other texts, or a general statement that was clarified by the other texts.
