The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Bakir narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Thabit, from Anas, who said:
God’s messenger used to raise his hands in supplication so that the whiteness under his armpits was visible.

The Shaykh : This is a matter of exaggeration and persistence with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), that you raise your hands to a great extent, until the whiteness of his armpits is seen. The whiteness of the armpits of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was seen because he was wearing a cloak, so when he raised his hands, the armpits became visible. As for us, since we wear shirts, the whiteness of the armpits is not distinct, because it is covered by the garment.
