The questioner : The commentator stated that such a thing is a misreading of his saying:
Our boy waters it يسقي عليه غلامنا
Is it a misreading of we water it with our date palms?

The Shaykh : On this topic, okay, read it, Khalid.
The reader: His saying: "It is equal to a Hajj, and in the other narration it discharges a Hajj, meaning: it takes its place in reward, not that it is equal to it in every respect, for if a person had a Hajj obligation and he performed 'Umrah in Ramadan, it would not suffice for him regarding the Hajj. His saying: two camels that belonged to so-and-so, his husband, and he and his son performed Hajj on one of them, and the other was watering our boy, or the other was watering our boy, this is how it is in the copies of our land, and al-Qadi 'Iyad also transmitted it from the narration of 'Abd al-Ghafir al-Farisi and others. He said: And in the narration of Ibn Mahan: our boy waters it. Al-Qadi 'Iyad said: I see this all as a change, and the correct one is we water it with our date palms, so our boy was misread from it, and this is how it came in al-Bukhari correctly, and what indicates its correctness is his saying in the first narration: we water it, which means we water it. This is the word of the Qadi, and the preferred view is that the narration is correct, and the addition mentioned by the Qadi is omitted and implied, and this is common in speech, and Allah knows best."

The Shaykh : It means the boy waters it.
And he pointed to the word
It is equal toتعدل
that the intended meaning is that reciprocity is not required from it, and this is common. For example, it came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): that Say: He is Allah, the One is equal to a third of the Qur'an. And it is known that if a person recited it thirty times, it would not suffice for him regarding reciting al-Fatihah. And it came from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that whoever says: There is no god but Allah, alone, having no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things competent, ten times, it is like one who freed four souls from the descendants of Isma'il, and it is known that it does not suffice for him, not even for one neck, so the equivalence in reward does not necessitate reciprocity.
