Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Zuhayr ibn Harb and Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna both narrated to me from Yahya al-Qattan. Zuhayr said: Yahya narrated to us from 'Ubayd Allah, who said: Nafi' informed me from Ibn 'Umar from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
A person should not enter into a transaction when his brother (had already entered into but not finalised), and he should not make proposal of marriage upon the proposal already made by his brother, until he permits it. لا يبع الرجل على بيع أخيه ولا يخطب على خطبة أخيه إلا أن يأذن له
Sahih Muslim 1412b
.

The Shaykh : Who is the one who gives permission?
The students: The suitor.

The Shaykh : The first suitor. And we have qualified this with what the texts indicate: that he gives permission out of what? Out of satisfaction. But if it is out of shyness or modesty, it is not permissible.
