The questioner : Welcome, His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad.

The Shaykh : May Allah greet you.

The questioner : In a previous episode, we reviewed a message from a listener who requested that we use a code for his name instead of his full name. He has coded his name as K.A.S. from Jeddah. We reviewed two of his questions: one regarding the zakat of jewelry, and the other regarding temporary marriage (mut'ah), which he intends to advise his friend who traveled to America about. His third question states: "I am sorry for burdening you with my long questions, but I am confident that you have a broad chest that listens to all these questions." We say to you, listener K.A.S. from Jeddah, that we welcome you and feel confidence from you in this program. Welcome to you and your questions.
He says: "I hope you will inform me about a matter concerning me. I am a young man in the early stages of life, and Allah has guided me to complete half of my religion, as I have resolved to marry and regretted the passing of my years without marriage. Now I am preparing for it. After I proposed to a righteous wife, if Allah wills, and this was, of course, with my parents' approval, I had a heated discussion with my beloved mother. We touched upon the topic of hijab in our conversation, and I said to her, 'Mother, I intend to have my wife observe hijab from my brothers.' My mother became angry and upset with me and said, 'Why are you doing that? You know that your brothers are good, they know what is wrong, and their morals are high. Hijab will put them and all of us in a difficult position. If we gather in one place, we will not be able to go on trips or outings together.' She means by this that hijab bothers everyone. We are one family and should be together..."

The Shaykh : ...together.

The questioner : No, I mean the family, that the family should be together.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : I tried hard to convince her that this is not permissible, but I could not. He requests guidance for him and his mother. May Allah guide you.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.

The questioner : Before you begin the question, at the end of the question, there is actually a note. He says that his wife observes Islamic hijab, which means, in other words, that his mother is asking him to have his wife observe Islamic hijab, meaning that she faces her brothers with only her face and hands uncovered, meaning without the rest of her body.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. As for what follows, we thank the brother for this high etiquette and noble character, which is observing the Islamic etiquettes that Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, has legislated for His servants regarding women. We tell him that what you have decided is correct: it is obligatory for your wife to observe hijab from your brothers, even if they are at a high level of integrity and chastity. That will not harm them in any way if she observes hijab from them, because she is acting in accordance with the command of Allah. The perfection of their chastity and religion is that they agree with what she wants and do not be distressed by what she has done. Our advice to your mother is to be patient with this legal ruling and to know that the outcome is for the righteous. This applies to her, to you, to your wife, and to your brothers. If the family adheres to the Shari'ah of Allah the Exalted in this matter and others, that is better for them and happier for them in their religion and their worldly life. As for the Islamic hijab you referred to at the end of your message, Islamic hijab includes covering the face and hands from non-mahrams. However, since a woman in the house needs to show her hands for her work, there is no harm in her showing her hands in her house, even if her husband's brothers are present, because that generally does not arouse desire, and avoiding it would cause hardship that is contrary to the Shari'ah.
As for the face, it does not harm her if she covers it, and it is not difficult for her, especially if she becomes accustomed to it. Those who are accustomed to this do not mind it and do not see it as a restriction, a difficulty, or a bad opinion of those from whom they observe hijab. Therefore, we say: do what is obligatory for you regarding your wife, and Allah will make the outcome good for you. Indeed, whoever fears Allah, He will make ease for him in his affairs. Yes.

The questioner : This message reached us from an Egyptian citizen. He says: "I am an Egyptian driver, confused by the behavior of my sponsor's wife. She takes things from the house, and I am the driver, and she orders me, the driver, to take them to the market. Then she enters some shops, then enters the inner offices, and uses the telephones for an hour and a half or more, or uses the street phone. She threatens to fire me by attaching accusations to me. Should I inform her husband of this, because he does not approve of her behavior, and he is a Muslim man?"

The Shaykh : The truth of the matter is that this behavior you referred to, if it is true, is bad behavior and is not approved by any Muslim. We thank you for this jealousy for your sponsor, for whom you work, and also for this jealousy for his wife, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Support your brother, whether he is wrongdoer or wronged. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how do we support the wrongdoer? He said: By preventing him from committing injustice, and that is your support for him. انصر أخاك ظالما أو مظلوما قالوا يا رسول الله هذا الظالم فكيف نصر المظلوم فقال أن تمنعه من الظلم فذلك نصرك إياه
So you are advising your sponsor and his wife. In this situation, if advising her does not benefit, you must inform her husband of this so that you may be free from responsibility. If you inform him of this, it will not harm you, if Allah wills, because Allah the Exalted has guaranteed that whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect. Yes.

The questioner : Regarding waswas (whispers of doubt), we received this message from the sender, your brother Ibrahim Abdullah, or from the school of Ka'b ibn Zuhayr. He says: "I suffer from a severe mental illness, which is a type of malicious waswas. For example, if there is a person in front of me and I am remembering Allah, Satan diverts my heart to that person, as if I am referring to him in my remembrance.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest.

The questioner : Or if I say, 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,' my heart turns, due to Satan, to another person, for example, whose name is Muhammad. I am in anxiety and distress from living with this malicious disease, which is the result of the persistence of waswas in me. Will I be considered a disbeliever because of this? And should I repeat Hajj? Please inform us. May Allah guide you?"

The Shaykh : We inform the brother that the waswas he mentioned is a clear sign of faith and an indication that his faith is good and pure, because Satan only tries to demolish what is standing, and he does not touch what is already collapsed. This is proof that the brother has strong faith that Satan is trying to demolish and strip from him. We tell him: these are waswas, do not pay attention to them, do not turn to them, and do not be concerned about them. If you feel them, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan, for he has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. His authority is only over those who take him as a protector. So, my brother, stick to the faith you are upon, do not pay attention to these waswas, and tell yourself that you can never stand before this man and say to him, 'You are Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah.' If you cannot do that, it means that what your self has told you is nothing, and it is merely waswas, do not pay attention to it. And so it is with what you find regarding the actions of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, or His attributes; that is from Satan, so seek refuge in Allah from it and do not pay attention to it, and it will disappear from you, if Allah wills.

The questioner : Yes.

The questioner : From the sign of the deposit, we received this message from the listener or sender M.M.A. He says: "With greetings to the honorable scholars, in fact, Muslims benefit from this program, and so on. My question is: I am a man who fell into a problem. I used to kiss a girl who was married, and this was during the days of Ramadan, and I was kissing her while fasting because I had become accustomed to fasting when I was very young. At that time, I presented my problem to one of the scholars, and he obligated me to fast only three days, and I did so. But I am plagued by doubt regarding this fatwa. I request an answer?"

The Shaykh : This woman whom you kissed while she was married has committed two sins. The first sin is the forbidden kiss, for it is not permissible for a man to kiss a woman who is a stranger to him. The second sin is violating her husband’s bed, for this is a transgression against him. So you must repent to Allah the Exalted and seek His forgiveness for what happened. Know that good deeds erase bad ones. However, the fast you were observing at the time of the kiss is not invalidated unless you ejaculated. If you did not ejaculate, your fast is valid. The one who issued the ruling that you fast for three days has no basis for his ruling; it is a fatwa not built on a Sharia principle, so it is of no account. You are not burdened by doubt after this. Follow up with good deeds and increase in seeking forgiveness and repentance to Allah. We hope that Allah will accept your repentance.

The questioner : Yes.

The questioner : Also, a man says: I was a slave, and my master freed me. I married and had children. Are the children considered slaves or free for the sake of Allah the Exalted?

The Shaykh : The children are free. Know that children follow the mother in terms of freedom or slavery. If a slave marries a free woman, his children are free because they follow the mother. If it happens that a free man marries a slave woman, and he is one for whom it is permissible to marry slave women, and she bears him children, then her children are slaves belonging to her master, unless the husband stipulates that they are free. Yes.

The questioner : This message was sent by a listener who says he is from Iraq, Anbar Governorate, Taloufa district, or so he says. The name is Naif 'Abd al-Sabir. He says in his message: I offer my most beautiful greetings and respect to your honorable program, which has benefited us and all Muslims with its religious and social legal rulings. On this basis, I am sending this message containing some questions, and I hope they will be presented to your honorable scholars and that I will receive answers from them, with thanks. I am a person to whom Allah has granted gifts and I have taken the correct path to Islam. I have applied all the conditions, from prayer to fasting to the end, and I have been more strict than necessary. I turned to one of the Sufi shaykhs and became one of his students. He ordered me to attend the dhikr circle on Mondays and Thursdays of every week, and to pray and send salam upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) one thousand times daily, and other tasbih. So I ask for guidance on whether the Sufi method is correct in Islamic Sharia and its teachings, or not correct. Please inform us; may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : We say: Know that the paths, whether Sufi or not, must be judged by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). What agrees with them is truth, and what contradicts them is falsehood. The majority of Sufi paths are paths of religious innovation, and some may reach the level of disbelief, while others fall short of that. Among this innovation is what you mentioned about your shaykh, that he ordered you to pray upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one thousand times every day, and with other tasbih. As for these other tasbih that you mentioned, we do not know what they are, so we cannot judge them as truth or falsehood. As for the order to pray upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one thousand times every day, this is undoubtedly a religious innovation with no basis in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). What I advise you to do is to seek a scholar from the scholars of the Sunnah who are known for following the Salaf al-Salih, and take your religion from him, and leave the paths you refer to, whether Sufi or otherwise.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Also, he asks: Is it permissible to make du'a for a person who is an open sinner and does not fulfill the obligations of Islamic religion?

The Shaykh : Making du'a for the open sinner for guidance, that Allah Mighty and Majestic guide him and rectify his affair, this is prescribed and required. As for making du'a for him in a way that may help him in his open sinfulness and persistence in falsehood, this is not permissible. As for making du'a for him after his death for forgiveness and mercy, this is permissible, indeed prescribed, perhaps Allah the Exalted will accept the du'a. In the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
No Muslim dies and forty men who do not associate anything with Allah stand over his funeral, except that Allah will intercede for them in his case. ما من مسلم يموت فيقوم على جنازته أربعون رجلا لا يُشركون بالله شيئا إلا شفعهم الله فيه
Sahih Ibn Hibban 11:194
. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O gentlemen. We have reached the end of this meeting in which we presented the listeners' messages. The listener K.A.S. from Jeddah asks about the Sharia hijab. An Egyptian driver complains about the behavior of his sponsor’s wife. Ibrahim 'Abdullah from Ka'b ibn Zuhair School, and the sender M.M.A. from Al-Wadi'ah sent several questions. And finally, a message from Naif 'Abd al-Sabir from Iraq, Anbar Governorate, Fallujah district.
We presented the questions and inquiries that reached us in their messages to His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, professor at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, and imam and khatib of the Grand Mosque in the city of Unaizah.
Thank you, His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad, and thank you, O brothers. Until a future meeting, we entrust you to Allah. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
