The reciter: And Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq ibn Muhammad narrated to me, saying: Ibn Abi Maryam informed us, saying: Al-Abbas ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Al-Harith ibn al-Fadil al-Khatmi informed me, from Ja'far ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hakam, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Masur ibn Makhrama, from Abu Rafi', the freed slave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

There was no prophet except that he had companions (hawariyyun) who followed his guidance and adopted his Sunnah

ما كان من نبيٍّ إلّا وقد كان له حواريّون يهتدون بهديه ، ويستنّون بسنّته

Like the story of Salih, and he did not mention the arrival of Ibn Mas'ud and his meeting with Ibn Umar.
