The reciter: Abu Ghassan al-Masm'i narrated to us, al-Dhahak ibn Makhlad narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Sahih Muslim 82b.
The Shaykh : Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) did not make a chapter for this hadith of Jabir, but al-Nawawi made a chapter for it with his saying:. The apparent meaning of his words (may Allah have mercy on him) is that he does not consider the one who abandons prayer to be a disbeliever, but rather he applied to him the name of kufr (disbelief) which is kufr (disbelief) less than kufr (disbelief). And the correct view, of which there is no doubt, is that the one who abandons prayer is a disbeliever, having exited the religion. So it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). And there is a difference between saying: "Whoever does such-and-such is a disbeliever," or saying: "This act is kufr (disbelief)," or saying Sahih Muslim 82b.
Between man and polytheism and unbelief is the abandonment of salat.
