The Shaykh : Is there a major and a minor in open sinfulness? Yes, there is a minor and a major. The saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire وأما الذين فسقوا فمأواهم النار
[As-Sajdah 32:20]
refers to the major, and His saying:
If a sinner comes to you with news إن جائكم فاسق بنبأ
refers to the minor.
