Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: ((So Allah made them taste humiliation)) that is, disgrace and lowliness through transformation, killing, and the like ((in this worldly life, and the punishment of the Hereafter is greater if they had known))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah the Exalted said:
So Allah made them taste disgrace فأذاقهم الله الخزي
[Az-Zumar 39:26]
disgrace and lowliness through transformation, killing, and the like Is its name al-hun or al-huwān?
The student: Al-huwān

The Shaykh : "
of disgrace and lowliness through transformation, killing, and the like in this worldly life
But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew. ولعذاب الآخرة اكبر لو كانوا يعلمون َ
[Az-Zumar 39:26]
He made them taste أذاقهم الله
meaning He struck them with it until it was as if they had tasted it and experienced it in various ways " And His saying, the Exalted is He, and the author's saying, may Allah have mercy on him: " through transformation, killing, and the like " Transformation is like the Jews to whom Allah said:
Be apes, despised." كونوا قردة خاسئين
[Al-Baqarah 2:65]
and killing is an example of the Children of Israel
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes...
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, they killed themselves when they were commanded to repent, so He said to them, if you were sincere in your repentance, kill yourselves. However, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, mentioned Jalut and Talut in Surat al-Baqarah, and there is fighting in it. Also, the author says: "
and the like " such as destruction by the thunderbolt, the earthquake, and the like. The important point is that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, destroyed all the disbelievers in the messengers. If someone asks: Are there not messengers who were killed? The answer is yes, but those who were killed either were not commanded to fight, so they were attacked without fighting, or they were taken by surprise without them openly declaring the killing... Then, if they were killed, does that mean what they called to dies with their death? It may be a victory for them, even after their death.
"
So Allah made them taste disgrace فأذاقهم الله الخزي
[Az-Zumar 39:26]
disgrace and lowliness through transformation, killing, and the like in this worldly life
But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew. ولعذاب الآخرة أكبر لو كانوا يعلمون
[Az-Zumar 39:26]
if they had known, that is, the disbelievers, the punishment of it, they would not have denied " His saying: " they would not have denied" is the answer to the conditional "if," which is omitted.
