Explanation of the Book of Prayer-12

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When the evening meal is brought, begin with it before you pray Maghrib إذا قدم العشاء فابدأوا به قبل أن تصلوا المغرب
. Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
When the evening meal is brought, the evening meal is what is eaten in the evening, and the evening is the end of the day. The lunch is what is eaten in the morning, and the morning is the beginning of the day.
He says:
When the evening meal إذا قدم
Whether a person brings it for himself, or his wife brings it, or his sister brings it, or the servant brings the evening meal, begin with it before you pray Maghrib.
An example of this situation: A man is brought his evening meal and the call to prayer for Maghrib has been made, so we say: eat your evening meal, then pray Maghrib. The wisdom behind this is so that his heart is not preoccupied with the food that was brought to him, and so that our hearts are not distracted from humility in prayer.
