Additional benefits of the hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he said the takbir, he placed his hands at the level of his shoulders."

The Shaykh : One of the benefits of the hadith of Abu Humayd is that it is recommended for the one in prostration to face the tips of his toes toward the qiblah. What are the tips of the toes? We have known from before that they are the toes. Accordingly, he should tuck his legs in so that the toes face the qiblah. Now, is it permissible to place the tips of the toes on the ground without facing the qiblah?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : The answer is yes, it is permissible, due to the generality of his statement in the hadith of Ibn Abbas:
I have been commanded to prostrate on seven bones. أمرت أن أسجد على سبعة أعظم
Sunan Ibn Majah 883Sahih (Darussalam)
until he said:
And the tips of the feet وأطراف القدمين
But the sunnah is to face the toes toward the qiblah. And what should the feet be in this state? Are they spread apart or together? Some scholars said that they should be spread apart, and some of them specified that this should be by the width of a shibr. And it is known that specifying a measurement requires?
The student: A definitive text.

The Shaykh : A definitive text. And if this person said that he spreads his legs according to nature, according to nature, and people differ; some people, what Allah willed, are broad, and some are, what is it, narrow? Meaning, for some, the shibr is small, and for others, it is large. So if it were said that he places his feet in their natural state, neither bringing them together nor spreading them apart, if it were said this way, it would have a valid aspect. Specifying it by the shibr, no. But with this, we say that the apparent sunnah is that he brings them together, meaning the feet, because this is how it came in the Sahih of Ibn Khuzaymah (may Allah have mercy on him), and this is how it came in the Sahih of Muslim when Aisha lost the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and sought him, she found him in prostration with his feet raised, and her hand fell on them extended, and this indicates that they are what? Together, otherwise the woman's hand would not have encompassed them.
