about one who says the greeting but does not make the words of the greeting clear

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: The students, O Shaykh, may Allah reward you, are eager to give the greeting, and some of them may forget at times. But sometimes the greeting is returned, yet one does not understand whether this man gave the greeting or just coughed, because usually when one says: "As-salamu alaykum," the response is the same...?

The Shaykh : No, clarity is necessary. In any case, confusion between the greeting and a cough is not a valid excuse. Yes, he may sometimes whisper it, and that is a mistake. Give the greeting clearly. Also, some people in cars now, if they meet you, honk the horn, meaning if I have a horn, I honk it so that you respond to me. That is also a mistake. But perhaps some people say: he honks the horn so that I notice and give the greeting.
