The prescribed practice of making up fasts before fasting the six days

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it permissible to fast six days of Shawwal before making up the fasts we owe from Ramadan?

Answer: The scholars have differed on this, and the correct view is that it is prescribed to make up the fasts before fasting the six days and other voluntary fasts; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal is like fasting the year.” Muslim recorded this in his Sahih.
And whoever fasts the six days before making up the fasts has not followed them with Ramadan, but rather has followed them with part of Ramadan. And because making up the fasts is obligatory, and fasting the six days is voluntary, and the obligatory is more deserving of attention and care. And success is from Allah.
