Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Good, and he said:
Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves." إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
[Al-Baqarah 2:222]
.
Al-Tawwabin: This is an intensive form derived from tawbah (repentance), meaning frequent return to Allah. Tawbah is the return to Allah from His disobedience to His obedience.
And I think we have previously explained its conditions, and that its conditions are five, so there is no need to repeat them. Al-Tawwabin is loved by Allah the Exalted; he is one who repents frequently. It is known that frequent repentance necessitates frequent sin. From this, we understand that no matter how many sins a person commits, if he repents for every sin, then Allah the Exalted loves him. Good, and the one who repents once is known to be loved by Allah a fortiori, because if the one whose sins are many and whose repentance is frequent is loved by Allah, then the one whose sins are few is loved by Allah through repentance a fortiori. And Allah the Exalted loves the one who repents.
He loves those who purify themselves يُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
Here, purity of the outward and purity of the inward are combined. Purity of the inward is by His saying
those who turn to Him in repentance التَّوَّابِينَ
, and the outward is by His saying
those who purify themselves الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
, meaning those who purify their bodies from states of ritual impurity, filth, and whatever must be purified.
