The Meaning of "Replacement" in the Statement of Allah, the Exalted: "The Day the Earth is Replaced by an Earth Other Than It," and the Refutation of Jahm, Who Claims That All Created Things Will Be Replaced on the Day of Resurrection

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The summary of this research is that this man, who is Jahm, claimed that the resurrection on the Day of Resurrection is not for these bodies, and that this existing, visible creation will be completely annihilated on the Day of Resurrection, and nothing of it will remain, like a shadow that the sun erases. Does a shadow remain? No, nothing remains. Then Allah, the Exalted, will recreate the creation anew: He will recreate animals, humans, beasts, and wild animals, and likewise the heavens, He will recreate them anew, and the earth, He will recreate it anew, and the stars, He will recreate them anew. Everything is recreated anew. Why? He said, "Because this is the meaning of replacement." If you say, "Replace this bag for me with this book," the bag moves from me to you, and the book moves from you to me, so the replacement is other than what is replaced. And Allah says:
[It will be] on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well] يوم تُبدل الأرض غير الأرض والسماوات
[Ibrahim 14:48]
There is no doubt that this statement is false. The replacement mentioned by Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, is not the replacement of a self with a self, but it is the replacement of a description with a description. The author cited as evidence for this the statement of Allah, the Exalted:
We will replace them with other skins بدلناهم جلودا غيرها
[An-Nisa 4:56]
He said, "The skin remains, but it was cooked by the fire."
Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins كلما نضِجت جلودهم بدلناهم جلودا غيرها
[An-Nisa 4:56]
So when it was cooked, it arose anew, and it is the same. He also argued that Allah folds the heavens and folds the earths. Is the folding of the non-existent possible or not possible? Not possible. He also argued that if it were a new creation, those who do not deserve punishment would be punished, and those who deserve punishment would be saved. Because this disbeliever would be annihilated completely, and a new disbeliever would come in his place, and we would punish this disbeliever. Is this reasonable or not reasonable? Not reasonable. And it is not possible that Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, would create peoples to punish them and peoples to bless them without any deed. Then the author also referred to another meaning that Jahm says: "That death is not the departure of the soul from the body" The soul is a description among descriptions, like height, shortness, redness, blackness, and whiteness; it is an attribute among attributes. When a person dies and is lost, he and his life are gone, so there is no soul, no torment in the grave, no bliss, no bliss in Paradise, and nothing remains. Because in his view, infinite regress is prohibited. The existing Paradise is not existing, as you know, and the children will be annihilated, as per his first statement. All of this is based on what? On defective principles that contradict the Book and the Sunnah. Reason also refutes it, as transmission refutes it. The author, may Allah have mercy on him, brought examples for this entire chapter, and it appears that explaining the examples will lengthen things for us a bit, and you can review them, such as the book *Hadi al-Arwah* or other books.
